Stuff & Nonsense

What, no Alice in Chains???

I love to read what other people classify as good music. Most of the time I totally disagree. This was the case, yet again, when I read Yahoo's list of the 25 Best Alternative Rock Bands of the '90s.

As most of you know I love music ('70s disco, '80s new wave, '90s alternative) even more than crafts! So, since this was a '90s alternative list I really thought I would enjoy reading their choices, this was not the case. Blech! What a list. I never even heard of half the artists (Sebadoh) and those I did I only remember one or two of their songs (The Breeders). And don't even get me started on Beck being on this list!

So, I thought I would vent a little and give my list for my top 25 Best Alternative Rock Songs and Artists of the '90s. Here we go. . .

    25. "Heart Shaped Box" - Nirvana

    24. "Zombie" - The Cranberries

    23. "Stay" - Shakespeare's Sister

    22. "Feed the Tree" - Belly

    21. "My Sister" - Juliana Hatfield

    20. "Seether" - Veruca Salt

    19. "You Ought to Know" - Alanis Morissette

    18. "Desire" - Gene Loves Jezebel

    17. "Californication" Red Hot Chili Peppers

    16. "Sleep to Dream" - Fiona Apple

    15. "Personal Jesus" - Depeche Mode

    14. "Back Hole Sun" - Soundgarden

    13. "Candy" - Iggy Pop and Kate Pierson

    12. "Deadbeat Club" - The B 52s

    11. "Omaha" - Counting Crows

    10. "Would?" - Alice in Chains

    9. "Creep" - Stone Temple Pilots

    8. "St. Theresa" - Joan Osborne

    7. "Wonderwall" - Oasis

    6. "Just a Girl" - No Doubt

    5. "Crowing" - Toad the Wet Sprocket

    4. "Elsewhere" - Sarah McLachlan

    3. "How You've Grown" - 10,000 Maniacs

    2. "Winter" - Tori Amos

    1. "Everybody Knows" - Concrete Blonde

That was a lot harder than I thought, especially three through one (my favorite artists of all time). I chose Concrete Blonde as #1 because that song was featured in Pump Up the Volume, and you might remember that I was obsessed with Christian Slater in the '90s. I thought it was very fitting.

Feel free to post your list, or a similar one on your blog. Let me know if you do. I'd love to see your favorites.

Adopt a Virtual Pet

I was surfing around for fire patterns for the new Supernatural group on Ravelry, and I came across this cute kitten on someone's blog.

Naturally, I had to make a little Drusilla for myself.

If you take your pointer and put it near the basket, she will swat at it. Too Cute!!!

Bizarre Clip Art

I was searching for Day of the Dead embroidery patterns on Google and this showed up.

Isawoj

How bizarre is that? It really did make me chuckle though :)

Bad Reeses, Bad

Reeses Peanut Butter Cups
Very popular, one of you is not enough.

I did a very bad thing this week; something that I know I shouldn't have done. I bought a bag of Reeses peanut butter cups and ate the entire thing!

It might have been a moment of weakness on my part after the incredibly bad weekend I had or maybe it was that time of the month again. In any case, I just sat down with the bag next to me while I watched the Steelers game and crocheted. The next thing I knew, the bag was gone.

I guess I shouldn't do that again. Well, it was great while it lasted :)

HGTV junkie

Now that I own my very own home, I have become an HGTV junkie. I watch it and DIY almost as much as I watch ESPN. Almost!

Lately, I have been hooked on Design Star. I don't know how it happened, but I missed the finale to see who was chosen. Well, they replayed it this weekend and I was thrilled that Kim won. She is awesome! I love her designs, especially the final one. Plus, I thought Todd was a show-off.

Anyway, I was also very happy to see David (last years winner) give them the keys to their new cars. I love him and his show, Color Splash. I want him to come to my house and redo my living room. Maybe he can figure out what to do with my crazy fireplace.

What year do you belong in???

You Belong in 1980
Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day.
